When I am 108 / by Ana Filipovic Windsor

By Austin Meyermann

Look at you body all dust and bones
You sure do look old and alone
Its the mind here, I've left to listen
No more talking, just observing, driftin'

I'm not alive but also not dead
Fingerprints, remembrances in someone's head
Now part of the ancestry, a footnote or two
Who was he, why, and what did he do?

I lived, loved, laughed, suffered and lusted
I dreamt, acted, impacted, and trusted
I was a dad, husband, boss and friend
With the chance to do the same, I'd do it again

Now no regrets, longings, sufferings, or needs
Life the Wonder Ride, what a ride indeed!
And while only the Future knows what the future holds
It is still fun to guess...

I hope for possibility, happiness, for mine and all the rest
The courage to, the chance to do, this opportunity we owe them
So all of our kid's kid's kids can one day write their own poem
